...and we’re dusting off the ol’ passports! But this
adventure will probably pale in comparison to the one we’ve been
experiencing over the past year:
It’s hard to believe it, but our “we-survived-the-first-year-as-parents”
trip is coming up next week!
Shortly after becoming pregnant, we decided
to forego a “babymoon” and instead saved the vacation time and funds for
a parents-only trip. We chose Amsterdam because it seemed cool, had canals, and was convenient enough. (Direct flight, holla!)
When we booked the hotel and
airfare back when I was still on maternity leave, September 2016 felt
like eons away.
But it’s true what they say: the first year goes by so fast. (Except for the nights when Declan is teething. Those last FOREVER.)
We've had so many changes this year – in addition to
Declan joining us, I switched jobs to a new company where I work
part-time much closer to home. We’ve had so many blessings this past
year, but we’re still looking forward to adding travel to that list.
Traveling has always been something we’ve loved
experiencing together. While Declan isn’t quite old enough to handle
international trips – and we’re not yet brave enough to bring him,
either! – we’re looking forward to taking a week away.
And while we’ll miss him ridiculously, we think this trip will be a
great opportunity for him to bond with Nana while mommy and daddy
reconnect and recharge for the year ahead.
I’ll blog and share our adventures when we return.
